Xeriscape comes from the root (xeri) meaning “dry” in Greek. Here in the desert Southwest choosing desert-adapted plant varieties may make the difference between long-term success and failure in your landscape. This means having a sustainable plant palette that can thrive over time. Landscape needs expert planning to be compatible with locally available resources, water, soil types, and sunlight.

Xeriscapes usually require less fertilizer and fewer pest control measures than traditional landscapes. Since pesticides and fertilizers can inadvertently harm living organisms, as well as impact air and water quality, reducing their use is a good idea.
